I am not a doctor nor do I perform hair transplant surgeries. I
am an ordinary bloke from Australia, somewhat affected by hair loss, and
like so many others out (I would think) trying to wade through the many
comments and stories about medical professionals & hair loss
treatments, written on various forum sites by self proclaimed experts.
What is my conclusion from what I have read and seen so far on the
internet? - be careful what you read and believe out there!
Some of the comments on some of these hair loss related forum sites
often appear to be written by the same individuals or people with a
vested interest in rubbishing certain doctors or clinics. As well as
this, how certain can you be that the story or comment you are reading
is from an actual patient discussing there own experience?
I refer to a particular comment from an unnamed forum stating "there
are no good hair surgeons in Australia" you must be joking. Who is this
person or persons to say, that out of a population of 23 million plus
people in Australia that there are no good hair doctors here? This kind
of comment is better suited at a mates BBQ on a Sunday afternoon over a
few beers and not on an internet forum discussion forum designed to
specifically assist other people in similar circumstances looking for
guidance and direction with hair loss.
At the end of the day, I think you need to put these comments into
perspective and maybe with a grain of salt too. When It comes to
something as serious as a hair transplant, which is very much a medical
procedure, weigh these comments from these forum sites up against
actual, credible information which no doubt anyone serious enough about
having a hair transplant would do.
Some of the comments are absolutely over the top and hard to take
seriously. I realize there is always good and not so good out there
that's not the issue. The issue is the emotive words being added and
again who can tell if they are real comments from real people. I suspect
some of these comments are potentially from competitors trying to
rubbish other professionals to help make themselves look better. We call
this "The Tall Poppy Syndrome' in Australia.
In closing I just want to say I am sure there are some forum sites
out there that do have credible comments from actual patients telling
their real life story (good or bad) unfortunately, in my case anyway,
I'm just not sure what site is credible and which ones are not. This is
especially disappointing as I would think the idea behind these sites is
to help people affected by hair loss.
